Entry Level Controls Intern

CG Automation & Fixture (CGAF), located in Comstock Park, MI is looking for an Entry-Level Controls/Automation Intern!!

A Controls/Automation Intern will support the Controls Department and gain on-the-job experience helping to write workbooks and document processes that meet CGAF and customer standards. We are looking for motivated individuals interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing and with a strong aptitude for automation.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

• Participate in electrical design reviews
• Perform some programming/troubleshooting of PLC software
• Verify completeness and accuracy of product documentation
• Participate in development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies
• Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, and motor controls
• Prepare technical drawings, BOMs, specifications of electrical systems which conform to AMS standards and customer requirements
• Confer with AMS team to discuss existing or potential projects or products
• Management of assigned projects and duties
• Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays (if needed) to meet customer project commitments
• Follow procedures written in the Quality Systems Manual.

Qualifications:

• Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD Electrical and 2D AutoCAD with knowledge of PLC and HMI software preferred
• Fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design preferred
• Ability to exercise critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
